Pictionary, and more

So I mentioned that we had people over this past weekend, and we sat around playing games. I honestly, haven't laughed that hard in a long time, and it felt wonderful. My sides ached because we were laughing so hard. It was my dad, Kay, my sister Rachelle, my friend Fleck, Greg, Mike, and Em. We decided on a great game of Pictionary, so we got the board out and all set up. To our dismay we couldn't find the category cards so we proceeded to play without them. First laugh of the night was when Rachelle was trying to draw a turkey. I thought it looked like an alien in a light bulb, although Fleck screamed "TURKEY". I laughed so hard at her drawing, that she autographed her picture for me, shown here.

So a little later into the game I drew the word, "object". I sat there and pondered how in the world I could draw object, and finally came up with a court room scenario...yeah yeah laugh at me. Anyway, to make a long story short further into the game someone found a category card, and guess what was on there? YEP OBJECT. So yours truly didn't realize I was working off a category card, and we all started cracking up. My sister said I no longer had any right to make fun of her drawing. I then took a look at the category card and looked at my sis and said "Um didn't you play the word difficult??". So she had done the EXACT same thing, played off the category card!!! So at that point we were all laughing so hard we were in tears. You had to be there, but it was truly hilarious, and great times. I love that we could all laugh at our own expense, and just relax for awhile. During this episode of laugh times at Jenn, little Jude was snuggly in his Grammy Kay, and Papa Steve's arms. I think he enjoyed all the attention from everyone that night.

So yes, we find ways now to continue our normal lives. We have people over, and we are not afraid to go out anymore, and it's a liberating feeling. Prior to Jude's seizures being under control we seemed to shy away from being out in public a bit. We still went out, but nothing like we did before. Our whole world flip flopped, we no longer worked out all the time, or went out to eat, or to the movies. I guess we are finding our happy medium.

So last night I was reading Heather Spohrs blog (http://thespohrsaremultiplying.com/), and tears began streaming down my face. Mike said (in his nice husband voice) "babe, what's wrong". I just sobbed, "I cannot do it anymore, I cannot read her blog because there is nothing I can do for her, and it breaks my heart". To my surprise Mike didn't go into a long explanation as to why I shouldn't read the blog, and how it's not worth being upset. No, Mike said, "You have to keep reading, you have to support her by continuing to read and comment every single day". I was rather shocked that he said that, but I agreed. I then noticed I missed a comment from her the day before, and it had a video with it. With a bit of hesitation I clicked on the video, and when the squeal of baby laughter rang out through my living room, Mike came to see. We watched little Maddie squealing with laughter over, and over, and we began to laugh with her. Suddenly I could tell Mike was a little choked up, and he said, " It could happen to Jude, and you know it………you follow every post she writes, and you comment on EVERY post she writes. You relish in the days this baby had with her and support her along the way". My hubsand is sometimes very touching.

I don't know if you have been to http://www.5minutesforspecialneeds.com, but one of the writers there is a Mom to Max, who had a stroke in utero.

I read Maddie's story! I am now following her blog! Great story! I am sad for her though! But intrigued by her strength.

I think alien with a light bulb is as good a guess as turkey!

Maddie's mom's blog makes me tear up too.

Oh yeah, and I forgot to tell you before, but I don't know if you read my recent post about Charlie's trip to the eye doctor, but he was AMAZED at how much better Charlie's vision is. There's been a lot of research and stroke victimes can get back a LOT of their vision.
