I can't imagine if I had to carry her up stairs and that is what we would have had to do had we not converted this room to her room. We also use a daybed and then use one of the kids bed rails to make sure she doesn't roll out. Keep in mind our little one only rolls on occasion, so she is not an active girl, but just in case we have the rail in place always.
